AT A GLANCE:
Names: Max Zarate, Felipe Lopez, and Claudia Anajel
Impresario Since: April 2018
Project: Association Ixim (micro-loans)
Location: Momostenango, Guatemala
Ixim is a word from the language K'Iche which means maiz or corn. Maiz for the Maya culture and Momostenango, is one of the basic elements of life - providing health and vitality to those that partake. Tthe association serves the outer population of Momos, particulary women, bringing hope and possibilities to those without.
Ixim started in April of 2016 in order to provide micro-loans to the outer aldeas of Momos, but their ultimate vision includes projects in education, health, and entrepreneurial development.
Currently Ixims works with groups, mostly womens groups, providing micro loans in order to promote business outside of the city center. Through responsible loaning and not taking collatoral, they have a 100% success rate with those that borrow and have become widely sought after.
Unfortunately as Ixim grows in popularity, their fiscal base cannot support the current demand. Therefore Ixim is looking for national and international investors willing to take part in the mission of Ixim: growing hope and development in Momostenango.
